Tensions are soaring between Pakistan and Afghanistan as Pakistan’s recent airstrikes targeting the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) within Afghan borders have sparked retaliatory attacks from both Pakistani and Afghan sides and heightened conflict across Durand Line.

Recently, a video allegedly depicting Afghan forces shooting down a Pakistan Army Helicopter along the Durand Line in Kost is being circulated among Social Media Users.

The X post mentions: “Taliban shoot down Pakistani helicopter: escalating conflict. Taliban shot down a Pakistani helicopter, leading to partial mobilization of Afghan forces.”

However, Fact Crescendo’s findings show that an old video showing a Kurdish fighter shooting down a Turkish Helicopter is being falsely shared as a Pakistani Army plane shot down by Taliban forces.

Fact Check:

We applied Google reverse search on the key fragments of the shared video and the search led us to a website named Gerilla TV. The same footage was published by Gerilla Tv on 13 May 2016. According to the Caption of the video, it depicted Turkish Amy’s plane shooting operation.

Another website Mirror UK also published the same video on 24 May 2016 mentioning that “The shocking footage shows a fighter of the Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK) fire on a Turkish AH-1W Super Cobra helicopter”.

Conclusion

Hence from the above investigation, it is now clear that an old video clip of a Turkish plane shot down by a Kurdish fighter has been falsely shared as a Pakistan army plane shot down by Taliban forces across Durand Line.
