On Thursday, June 8, 2023, an explosion occurred at the funeral ceremony of Mawlavi Nisar Ahmad Ahmadi, the deputy governor of the Taliban, at the Nabawi Mosque in Faizabad, Badakhshan. As a result, 13 people lost their lives, while 30 others sustained injuries. The explosion took place before noon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on published reports<\/a>, Safiullah Samim, the former Taliban commander for Baghlan and a number of local Taliban officials were killed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along with the news of this explosion, some media outlets and social media users have shared several images. They claimed these pictures are the photos of the explosion at the Nabawi Mosque in Faizabad, Badakhshan. These pictures show wounded people being treated and the smoke and debris due to the explosion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On June 8, along with the news of the explosion, Chashm News<\/a> Tweeted a picture showing injured people being treated in the hospital. It is stated in the description: \u201cDeadly Blast Hits Taliban Funeral Ceremony in Badakhshan, Killing 14\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First image:<\/strong> The first image shows the interior of a mosque that was destroyed by an explosion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This picture is from inside a mosque in Gardiz city of Paktia province. This mosque was targeted by a suicide attack on August 3, 2018, when Friday prayers were held there. Because of the suicide attack, at least 29 people were killed and more than 80 others were injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to published reports, the attack resulted in the tragic loss of 14 lives, with 145 individuals sustaining injuries. The reports have also confirmed that the Taliban claimed responsibility for this attack, specifically targeting the headquarters of the sixth police security district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
