At Least 19 people were killed and more than 200 injured after powerful earthquakes strike parts of Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Several buildings were destroyed due to the 6.5 magnitude earthquake last week.

Following the earthquakes, some old images and videos were shared among social media users with context to the recent quakes.

A video is also being shared on twitter claiming that the video was recorded during the powerful earthquakes in Pakistan and Afghanistan on 21 March 2023.

However, Fact Crescendo's findings show that an old video from the devastating earthquakes in Turkey this year was shared with context to the quakes in India, Pakistan and Afghanistan.

FACT CHECK:

To find out the truth behind the shared video, we first split the video into smaller key frames and then applied Google reverse image search on the Key frames. By applying Google reverse image search, we found that the similar video was published by a MSNBC.

Similar video was published by the mentioned website on 6 February 2023 and according to the published article, the video was recorded while devastating earthquakes hit Turkey in February 2023 killing more than 50000 people.

Conclusion

Hence, from the above investigation, it is clear that a video from earthquakes in Turkey in February 2023 is being shared with context to the recent earthquakes in India, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
