Continuing the imposition of restrictions on the education of girls in Afghanistan, the Taliban also closed the doors of universities on them by publishing a newsletter. On Tuesday evening, December 20, the Ministry of Higher Education under the Taliban administration has issued a newsletter and ordered all educational institutions in the country to suspend the process of educating girls until further notice.

After this newsletter released, some social media users have also published news about the suicide of a Nangarhar University student. In a claim that posted on December 21, 2022, a user claimed that a student of Medicine of Nangarhar University committed suicide after Taliban curbed the rights of Afghan girls to pursue higher education.

Many Facebook users also claimed that one of the students of Nangarhar University Faculty of Medicine committed suicide after the Taliban blocked the doors of the universities to girls.

Our findings regarding this claim suggests that social media users have posted an unverified claim. Our research about the news of the suicide of a student of the Faculty of Medicine of Nangarhar University did not lead to any results.

On the other side, our findings in relation to the image in which the corpse of a girl is seen, show that this image was of a Pakistani performer.

The name of the girl is Gulali. According to news reports, she was a performer in Mardan city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Pakistan. The reports say that she was allegedly murder by her husband and his friends.

In February 2019, the videos showing Gulali's death body were uploaded to some YouTube channels.

Aizaz-Tv YouTube channel uploaded the video of Gulali's death body on February 22, 2019. In its description, it is said: "Pashto Drama Gulalai Janaza Full Video Home".

Another YouTube user also published this video on February 23, 2019. This user has also described this video as: "Pashto actress Gulalai death full video at home".

On February 22, 2019, the Express Tribune website reported the death of Gulali, Pashto stage performer. In the report published by the website, it is stated that she was killed after being tortured by her husband's friends in Peshawar's Mardan. This website also reported that after Gulalai’s murder, her husband is still at large. According to the report, after Gulalai’s relationship with her husband strained, she was living with her sister in Peshawar city of Pakistan.

From our investigation, it is clear that the image of a dead body being shared on social media platforms as the body of a student from Nangarhar University is actually of a Pashto stage performer. The photo is of the dead body of a woman named Gulalai, a stage performer by profession. According to news reports, she was allegedly tortured and murdered by her husband and his friends.
