Russia invaded Ukraine on 24 February 2022 and mass civilian casualties have been reported on both sides since the war started. There have been mixed reactions from the international community with some countries supporting either side or some totally disapproving the whole idea of war. USA and NATO have been openly supporting Ukraine in the war and even providing assistance to the country, which includes humanitarian, military and financial support.

Recently an image is being shared on Twitter in relation to the ongoing standoff between Russia and Ukraine and the direct or indirect involvement of NATO and US in the war.

The Twitter captions reads:

"🚨As more evidence and information about US and NATO troops fighting and directly supporting the War in Ukraine emerges, the Western Propaganda army works harder to cover and discredit the stories and reports that slip through.

Once the war is over, regardless of the outcome, the official narrative will change to admit the truth, and they won’t apologize for their blatant lies and propaganda they pushed so hard, just like with the Covid story or the false narratives and excuses for other Western wars. The truth is getting out, little by little. The truth shall set you free!"

However, fact crescendo's findings show that an old and unrelated image is being shared with context to the US and NATO's involvement in Russia Ukraine war.

Fact Check:

The U.S. and NATO have been supporting Ukraine since the start of the conflict with Russia.

According to a website named CRF, the USA has helped Ukraine with over 75 billion dollars of assistance including military, financial and humanitarian aid.

Since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, NATO members have also provided support to Ukraine.

To know the actual context of the viral image, we did a reverse image search on Google and found that the image is actually old and is not related to the ongoing Russia Ukraine war.

The image is several years old and was published by a website named DVIDS and the caption of the image reads as:

U.S. Soldiers await take-off on a U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III transport aircraft at Bagram Airfield, Jan. 29, 2013, after completing their tour in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Conclusion

Hence, from the above investigation, it is clear that an old and unrelated image from Afghanistan has been shared with context to the Russia Ukraine war. The image does not show the US and NATO forces in Ukraine.
