After Sri Lanka, Pakistan is sinking into a deep economic crisis. Pakistani currency has been to a record low and inflation is shooting up. However, misinformation is also being shared on social media in relation to the Economic Crisis in the neighbouring country of Pakistan.

Recently an image of a crowd is being shared with a claim that Pakistani people are trying to flee the nation amid on-going economic crisis.

The Twitter post, which is in Hindi language, claims: "If IMF did not give loan to Pakistan, then the news is hot in #Pakistan, the country will not survive, now all those who have passport are trying to run away from the country. There has been a stampede to get a visa to flee abroad."

Fact check:

The social media claims of the ongoing economic crisis faced by Pakistan are however true. However, the image shared is not from Pakistan.

We applied Google reverse image search on the shared image to find out the truth behind the Twitter claim. While investigating we found that the shared image has no relation to Pakistan.

While applying Google reverse image search we found the images of the same incident on a website named Reuters. The website published an image of the crowd on 21 October 2020. According to the published article, the image was actually clicked in Jalalabad of Afghanistan. The image was taken when a huge crowd of people gathered to get visa in Jalalabad in order to flee the nation and at least 15 people were also killed in the chaos.
