A video of a few police personnel trying to catch a woman is going viral on social media. It can be seen in the video that the woman is holding knives in both of her hands. Police are trying to catch her with shields and plastic boxes. It was claimed that this incident was from Japan.

However, Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. This is an incident from China and not Japan.

Sharing the video, social media users are claiming that police are trying to catch a woman holding knives in Japan. One user wrote, “The Japanese police are afraid to approach a woman. It's said that there, anyone could be a descendant of a samurai.

Fact Check-

After a close look at the video, we found the name of a shop written in the background. With the help of Google Lens, we searched for the shop. We found that the name of the shop is DaShenLin Pharmaceutical and it is written in the Chinese language.

A keyword search led us to a website where it was mentioned that DaShenLin Pharmacy is located in Haizhu district in Guangzhou, China. We also found that the image of the shop in the website is same to the visual in the video. Below you can see the comparison.

According to China’s media report, this incident took place in Guangzhou in Guangdong province on 14 August. A woman attacked a few police officers in a busy street with two knives that she was holding in her hands. After the confrontation failed, police had to capture her using hooks and trapping her legs. Police still did not give any clarification on why the woman in the video attacked them.

Conclusion:

Fact Crescendo found the claim to be false. The incident of a woman attacking a few police officers on the street is not from Japan but from China.
